  • a cylindrical fuel with a ash -free door and a removable upper lid;
  • disk cargo with air distributors welded to the end of the air pipe;
  • grate;
  • The chimney connection pipe.

Citation. The most basic Bubafoni recipe doesn’t use any grates at all. However, cleaning the furnace requires disconnecting the chimney and turning the housing, which is very inconvenient.

Three factors contribute to the combustion chamber’s walls’ cylindrical shape:

  1. From the point of view of aerodynamics, a round pipe is always better than a profile. Rising along the walls, combustion products evenly heat the body of the bourgeois.
  2. There are no corner welds – a weak place of any steel stove or boiler.
  3. In the process of burning, the remaining fuel does not “freeze” in the corners, which is observed even in some boilers of prolonged burning.

A damper at the top of the air pipe allows the air supply to the furnace to be manually adjusted. It is attached from below with a disk-shaped load (other colloquial names: pancake, piston). Distributors of air flow, either curved or right, are welded to the disk underneath. The pipe itself has a minimum gap of 2-4 mm as it passes through the fuel lid.

The Bubafonia prolonged burning stove operates as follows:

  1. We fill the chamber to the top with solid fuel – firewood, coal, sawdust. We make fuel directly on top, as shown in the photo. Then insert the piston into the furnace, close the lid.
  2. Open the damper at the end of the duct. When the stove is flared up, cover the air supply about half.
  3. Burning occurs in the upper fuel area, under the pancake. It is there under the influence of the natural traction of the chimney that air comes from the pipe. Distributors contribute to better stream dispersion.
  4. Reduced gases pass through the gap between the disk and the case, give heat to the walls of the chamber and rush into the chimney.
  5. As the firewood burns, the load falls under its own weight until it rises to the grate.

A crucial aspect of "Bubafoni" The combustion zone moves after the piston gradually because fuel burns from top to bottom. The temperature of the remainder of the case is significantly lower than that of the walls surrounding the blazing layer of firewood, which occasionally becomes red-hot.

The dimensions and parameters of the heater

As the maximum heating zone is narrow and varies with time, it is challenging to determine the actual power of the Bubafonia oven. We suggest using data gathered from real-world experience rather than wasting time on calculations:

  • For heating the garage or a small household room up to 20 m², we make a potion of 50-liter gas cylinder with a diameter of 300 mm;
  • To heat the room 20 … 30 squares, we take a steel pipe Ø400 … 500 mm or a round iron container of the same size;
  • For heating the greenhouse, you will need a furnace with a diameter of 50-60 cm (for example, from a 200-liter barrel).

Note: It is preferable to place two small bourgeois in opposing corners of a large greenhouse.

Let’s talk about the chimney and duct diameters now. The Bubafoni drawing of a gas cylinder with pipe sizes is shown above: smoke is DN100, and air is DN50 (internal passage 50 mm). Increase the diameter of the air duct to DN65 (Ø76 x 3.5 mm) and the gas transmission to DN150 (Ø159 x 4 mm) if you intend to build a stove that is Ø400–600 mm.

One centimeter should be the minimum lumen width between the disk cargo’s edge and the furnace wall. The remaining details’ dimensions will show in the table:

Avoid expanding the Bubafoni’s diameter beyond 60 cm, as this will make the device excessively large and difficult to use. When you combine a 600 mm bar with an Ø580 mm piston and an Ø76 air duct, you end up with a fairly heavy bandura that needs to be lifted with your hands.

In boilers with extended burning times, the problem is handled differently. The photo’s cross-shaped load is used in place of a thick pancake. Indeed, there is an additional issue: since the ends of the cargo do not reach the walls, the fuel occasionally "freezes."

How to make a "bubaphany" from a cylinder

The upper burning furnaces are typically composed of used propane vessels with a 3 mm wall thickness. However, there is an issue: the propane-butane mixture refuses to escape the tank on its own because it is heavier than air. That is to say, there may be a tiny amount of flammable gas still in the cylinder that could catch fire when a metal object is ground with a grinder.

The following plan is used to remove the cylinder cover in order to prevent a flash or explosion:

  1. Put the metal vessel on the ground, open the valve, then turn it out with a gas key.
  2. Using the hose, fill the balloon with water to displace propane. Then forget the wooden chop into the hole.
  3. Gently cut off the lid on the weld seam with a grinder. When water will flow from the slot, turn the tank and continue to work.

Suggestions. Clushed valves encounter antiquated cylinders that refuse to release. In these cases, the brass valve is emptied using a heavy hammer and a hand hacksaw designed for metal (not a car with a circle!).

The ashness opening in the lower section of the vessel, on top of the chimney, should first be marked up and cut. The following is the additional process for making a Bubafonia stove by hand:

  1. Sleep from the reinforcement or corners of the grates exactly under the internal size of the fuel. Install the grille inside the cylinder.
  2. Having measured the height from grates to the lid, determine the piston stroke. Cut the air pipe for this size plus a margin of 30 cm.
  3. Make a piston. Make a disc with a hole, weld the duct and distributors from a steel strip of 40 x 4 mm or a corner of 45 x 45 mm. Install the damper on the end of the pipe.
  4. In the center of the removed cover, make a hole Ø60 mm under the duct, which should be included with a minimum gap. For convenience to the lid, you can weld the handles, and for tightness – a steel strip around the body.
  5. Make the ash door and its framing. Set the locking handle.
  6. Attach the chimney pipe. You can weld a straight piece of the pipe or a drop of 90 ° upward.
  7. Insert the load into the fuel, close the lid. "Bubafony" is ready.

Connect the horizontal section and display in the standard stove connection diagram to the chimney. It is highly undesirable to run the pipeline straight through the roof, as is the custom in the restroom. Condensate may escape from the Bubafoni chimney due to slow combustion, and cleaning the vertical pipe is a hassle.

Making a stove with a water shirt

It takes a skilled welder to convert a typical "bubaphone" into a solid fuel boiler. At minimum 2 bar and ideally 3 bar of coolant emergency pressure, the boiler shirt should be able to withstand it. It is necessary to boil the joints clearly and hermetically.

The drawing depicts the Bubafonia stove apparatus with a water shirt. Your objective is to cover the furnace with 3 mm sheet metal while maintaining a minimum 3-cm-wide water opening. Two pipes with an internal diameter of 40 or 50 mm must be inserted in order to connect to the heating network.

Remark. The easiest fix seems to be to weld an iron sheet on top of the cylinder and place a second pipe on top of it. Why is it hard to put into practice: Initially, it is challenging to locate thin-walled pipes with a diameter of Ø350–400 mm. Secondly, the boiler will be heavy and require a prolonged heating period.

We immediately discard the idea of forming a cylinder out of sheet metal since industrial rollers are required to bend steel that is 3 mm thick. We provide four ways for creating a water shirt for Bubafoni:

  1. Use thinner metal – 1.5 … 2 mm, bend the cylinder manually. The process will accelerate if the sheet is heated with a gas burner or cutter. Such a high -pressure boiler will not withstand, but to work with the open heating system will fit well.
  2. Take 2 leaf blanks, divide each into 3 equal parts and bend along the lines, withstanding an angle of 60 °. We get 2 halves of the hexagon, which we put to the furnace and weld among themselves. The problem is to find a leaflet machine.
  3. Cut 6 faces separately from metal separately, then boil at the angle of 60 °. The disadvantage of the method – too many seams.
  4. Make a rectangular box. In this case, the volume of the boiler tank and the heating time will greatly increase.

The entire height of the fuel is shown on the water circuit drawing. We advise cutting the shirt down to about the level of the grates. It is practically useless to surround the ash chamber with coolant because it is not heated. The boiler tank must be insulated externally using basalt fiber, a non-combustible material.

Because the boiler’s upper cover is missing, the piston is permanently brewed inside the firebox. A side door must be provided in order to load firewood, which will "eat" some of the combustion chamber’s usable volume. Watch the video for more information.

Features of the bourgeois – pros and cons of

One major advantage is that a competent master can calmly make a Bubafonu oven in a single day. The most expensive thing you can purchase is a cylinder and some pipes made of scrap metal. Extra benefits of being bourgeois:

  • the duration of combustion on 1 load is 6 … 10 hours;
  • omnivorousness – waste of wood, garbage, sawdust, freshly cut branches are laid in the furnace;
  • Simplicity of repair, any burnt part is changing easily.

Note: It is preferable to load mix coal, small waste, and garbage. You must weld a metal heel from below to the diffusers in order to drown with sawdust alone; otherwise, the chips will obstruct the air’s passage. The furnace performs mediocrely on clean coal; a forceful boost is needed.

The drawbacks of Bubafoni are considerably more disagreeable:

  1. The stove is poorly regulated. When working on high -quality dry wood, the damper helps to choose the optimal mode. If drowned with garbage and raw wood, the duct must be opened completely.
  2. The omnivorous of the bourgeois – a stick about the two -edges. From the burning of poor -quality fuel, the chimney is clogged by soot in just a day.
  3. Without good traction, the stove will smoke into the room. Hence the requirement for the height of the chimney – at least 4 m, counting from gols, pipe turns of 90 ° – no more than two.
  4. You can’t throw the logs “on the go”, except to pour a handful saw through the air channel. So, we learn to correctly dose the amount of fuel.
  5. The bourgeois from an iron barrel of 200 liters is very bulky and inconvenient in terms of operation. The piston is too large and heavy, the thin metal quickly burns out. Fortunately, the case is easy to replace.

The hazardous "Bubafona" is that a damper cannot put out a well-heated furnace. Air permeates the fissures, causing the wood to continue deteriorating. Lift the lid and pour a bucket of water into the heater; do not leave it unattended or in a radical state. There is a smoke curtain in the space.

Homeowners can obtain substantial advantages in insulation and heating by fusing the capabilities of an upper burning boiler with the efficiency of a bubafonu stove.
